a berry good week

...or two

here is why:

1. last week i went strawberry picking, and yesterday i went blueberry picking, and today i was working on the farm and got to pick more blueberries and blackberries. also, i made strawberry sorbet-it was AMAZING!

2. i've been working on the farm a lot lately, and i love it!! for so many reasons, but mostly because i get to participate in "quality control" by sampling as i pick (my goal is to get more in the basket than it my mouth, it doesn't always work) and the people are just fabulous.

3. dinner parties are so fun. i have an entire fridge full of local, fresh, organic veggies and i cannot possibly eat them all so i force people to come over and eat my food. i think they enjoy it.

4. last night was so fabulous. i made people come over and finish alcohol that was left over from the dinner party. then we went to this little Jamaican restaurant behind my house called Kelly's (so you know it must be good). I see Mr. Kelly cooking on the grill every day when i walk through their parking lot to get to my apartment. the food was so spicy, almost unbearable. but it was a good time. then we went out to see a couple of bands. we played pool before they started and i learned how to make the ball jump intentionally as opposed to accidentally. the bathroom was really entertaining...the stall writings were great, my favorite is probably "Toy Story 2 was OK" just because that is so random. one of the guys that we went out with apparently has a blog of bathroom stall writings and he says that one is actually pretty common. who knew? my favorite part of the bathroom though was the faucet-someone had put little jiggly eyes on the lever so it looked like an elephant--its the little things right? the first band was really cool, i can't even describe it, but there was a woman that played the type writer. i kid you not, but that is my new career ambition. the second band was just great too, a bluegrass band with a little rock. i am their newest groupie!!

certainly there are other reasons why the past couple of weeks have been amazing, but overall summer in athens has been a pretty good time!
