If you give a mouse a cookie...

I don't recall reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie as a child.  Maybe one of my teacher friends in college had it around.  However I learned about it, I can't stop thinking about it this month.

But I've changed the words to If You Get a King Sized Bed.  Because we did that and now we need new everything!  We had to get a headboard with a footboard that came up relatively high so "the pillows won't fall off the bed," new sheets, and a comforter (HALAFREAKINLUHA!).

Don't get my wrong.  I am SO excited about this comforter thing.  I've been wanting one since I moved in with Tom almost two years ago.  This boy sleeps with no less than nine pillows and six blankets.  I've started calling it the pregnant woman in a bird's nest.  There is absolutely no rhyme or reason and he just bundles everything up and it drives me bonkers.  I can't even get in the bed at night without the light on, because I don't like bunching.

In other words, I'm normal.

For those of you who have known me for forever, you may find this strange as I had some weird sleeping habits in my youth.  For instance, in high school I slept on top of the comforter with one little blanket so I wouldn't have to make the bed.  Finally I discovered the beauty of a down comforter and how amazing it is to sleep in such a plush environment.  But forget that silly flat sheet.  It just gets all tangly at my feet, and of course it adds one more step to the bed making process.

It's been my dream to get a comforter again, and Tom finally agreed and these were our terms:  he will never make the bed.  Fine, I'll do it and throw his blankets in the chest every morning.  But, he's been working from home and gets out of bed way after me and so it's still a jumbled mess.  He quit his job today, though, and will be going back to work in an office so I get to make the bed!  Never in a million years did I think I, Kelly Jeane Byers, would be excited about that.  I'm also excited that he has to leave the house so I might actually be to work on time for the first time in a year.  Oops.

Back to the give a mouse a cookie thing... Now, the curtains don't match the comforter and the night stands don't match the bed frame, so it seems like a never ending process, but I see the end in sight.  It will get there soon and I'm so excited!!
